Lucinda Hart-Gonzales![]() Dr. Lucinda Hart-Gonzalez is a continuing consultant to Second Language Testing, Inc. and general project manager for Defense Language Proficiency Test reviews. Dr. Hart-Gonzalez is a former editor of the international online journal Language Teaching & Technology and continues to sit on its Board. She continues to review manuscripts and write reviews for LT&T and other journals such as Studies in Second Language Acquisition and the Modern Language Journal. She also reviews proposals for the Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Hart-González received her B.A. Summa cum laude from University of Massachusetts — Boston and her M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgetown University. Before coming to SLTI, she served for ten years as Director of Arts and Humanities and Modern Languages for the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), which specializes in online education, including modern languages, and also teaches on all of the U.S. military bases in Europe and Asia. While there she won the 1999 National UCEA Peterson Award for Innovation in Distance Education for the design and development of UMUC's first on-line Spanish course and Honorable Mention for the 2000 E-Learning Award in Design Excellence. Prior to UMUC, she served as a research and evaluation specialist in the School of Language Studies at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), U.S. Department of State where she wrote a number of papers on language testing at FSI and on the ILR scale. She sat on the research and technology boards of the Interagency Center for the Advancement of Language Learning and also consulted frequently with the Federal Language Testing Board. Dr. Hart-Gonzalez, a long-time member of the ILR, served at different times on its training, testing, and translation committees and helped review and edit the performance levels for translation and interpretation. |
